SOL Stories emerged from SOL Nation’s Environmental Justice Is… campaign, which was created to highlight the deep connection between environmental and social justice. The campaign centered the idea that for every social issue, there is an environmental component, and used storytelling, culture, and community engagement to bring those connections to light in ways that felt real, accessible, and rooted in lived experience.

Today, SOL Stories stands on its own as a storytelling platform that continues this work through visual narratives. These mini documentaries amplify community voices, exploring social issues through an environmental lens while creating space for deeper understanding, reflection, and connection. Through storytelling, SOL Stories brings awareness to the systems that shape our lives while uplifting the people and solutions already present within our communities.

As SOL Nation has grown, SOL Stories has evolved to reflect our three Community Sovereignty Pillars — highlighting how communities care for themselves in everyday life, access pathways to sustainable livelihoods, and build power to shape the systems that impact them. More than just storytelling, SOL Stories is a tool for education, advocacy, and inspiration, helping move conversations into action and supporting a more just and sustainable future.
