Tech as a Solution
It is an understatement to say that being abreast on the newest technologies is going to be a skill that everyone will need to develop for the future. When used correctly, technology can help advance cultures and solve some of our social and environmental justice issues. Sol Nation strives to identify technology solutions that prepares the next generation to be the innovators and mitigate current issues. We want to create more than we consume!
Girls Who Code Club by Sol Nation
The national organization Girls Who Code was founded simply to "close the gender gap in technology." The founder says "When I started Girls Who Code, I never would have imagined that we would grow to become a movement reaching almost 90,000 girls of all backgrounds in all 50 states.
And now, just six years into our work, we’ve reached a tipping point.
We are on track to achieve gender parity in computer science by 2027. And we know why: because our work is as much about quantity, as it is about quality. We scale our programs to reach more girls in more places, and give them the chance to forge lifelong bonds so they may persist in computer science."
Sol Nation sees a Girls Who Code Club as a solution because jobs in technology is what the future holds. No matter what field of study, technology in some form is involved and the earlier that we can get young people introduced the better chance they have in keeping an interest and thriving.
